Bel'akor, the First Prince

At the Hampshire GT earlier this year, I got absolutely wrecked by an army led by this mini. That army, and player, went on to be part of the winning team at AoS worlds. I was suitably impressed by the play style enough to want to make my own version!  It also helped that every mini in the army is stunning.

The largest surface area, skin and wings, were basecoated in Vallejo German Grey, with a zenithal layer of Anthracite grey.  Other base colours were blocked in afterwards, except the metallics.  The whole lot was then sprayed with an enamel wash. Before this fully dried, I used a rag damped with white spirit to wipe down the raised areas.

Celestra grey was drybrushed all over, multiple passes  were used to build up the lighter areas such as the wings and belly.  The gold was created using a layer of contrast Nazdreg Yellow, and the iron was Basilicanum Grey.  Both were lightly drybrushed with a silver to highlight.

This big guy looks far more intimidating to paint than he really is.  In all it took me 12 hours to paint, and alot of that was figuring out colours on the fly.  If commissioned, I could finish one of these for you for £160 apx.
