Dark Angels Commission

I had the pleasure of painting nine Dark Angel characters for a customer this month.  The brief was a relatively simple high tabletop standard in the normal colours.

It was surprised to see a few limited edition minis included in the package!

After a zenithal highlight, I applied a 50/50 mix of Dark Angel Green and Ork Flesh through an airbrush over the top.  Dark Angel Green is not transparent enough to work on zenithal, but mixed works well.  I then added a few drops of a bright lime green ink to the mix in the airbrush, and applied this as a top down zenithal.

I used Black Templar as a pin wash, and highlighted the edges with the airbrush mix and Moot Green, about 50/50.  I did second highlight with more Moot Green added.

The Chaplains' armour was basecoated with Vallejo German grey, pin washed with Black Templar.  Highlighted were done with Mechanicus Grey, then Celestra Grey.

Blue armour was zenithal primed, then had a blue ink applied over the top. Drops of white were added to the airbrush, and using a zenithal technique, created the layering.  One edge highlight of Blue Horror was used to give the box art look.

This commission took 14 hours to complete at a cost of £168 to the customer.
