Last month I had the pleasure to complete this commission
for a customer. The brief was relatively
simple, emulate the old praetorian Imperial Guard minis, and the client gave me
free reign on how to complete this!
I was lucky enough to own the original set back in 1997. The minis are conversions of the Mordian Iron Guard, the peak caps being replaced with pith helmets, and used as one-off for Games Day 1997 big battle ‘Battle for Big Toof River’.
It proved to be so popular that GW released them as an army
bundle shortly after, and were available up until recently.
The minis for this commission were Cadian shock troops with
alternative heads from Anvil Industries. The paint is mainly contrast over a
zenithal base, with basic highlights.
The work took a total of 27 hours including assembly.
